Welcome to the 2022 Gardening Course

Email sent to 2022 members on Wednesday, December 1st

Dear fellow gardener,

We’re currently building content for the 2022 gardening course. Videos will be released as they’re produced.

We’re releasing the first one today so that you can get started in your garden now.

Your course is divided into three MODULES and each module is divided into CORE GARDENING PRINCIPLES.

The video for the first gardening principle, “Cover the ground with organic matter“, has been posted to the preview page.

We plan to film some videos on composting and release these before Christmas.

You presently have access to all the 2021 course content via the members’ area.

Feel free to browse through these videos. All 2021 content, however, will be removed as the old content is replaced with fresh videos.

Core gardening principles address key concepts we must implement in our practices if we’re to experience success.

The application of these concepts will also be demonstrated in a series of vignette videos showing how to apply these ideas in your home garden, containers and in your market garden.

Further support in this course is given through regular zoom meetings and our online forum. Please be patient as we make these additional learning tools available.

Thank-you for joining us on this exciting journey as we learn and grow together.

Kindly,

Damien, Andrew, Jack and Dan

Growing healthy food is the most pleasurable thing we can do and it’s a way to reclaim our independence. There is no better activity than gardening to simultaneously promote human health, restore vibrancy to our abused earth, and bring new energy into our lives and hope to our communities.    ~ Farmer Dan

Dear gardener, we have an early gift for you…

We have decided that all 2021 gardening course participants will be given free access to our 2022 content. That’s right, we’re inviting you to learn with us for another year, free of charge.

We’re extending this offer for a few reasons:

Dan & Helen
  • We feel that our first attempt at creating a virtual gardening course went well but certainly left room for improvement. We’re not satisfied with mediocre in our gardens and the same is true for our online learning platform. We want participants to have a blue-ribbon experience and that’s what we’re working towards as we put together the course for next year.

  • Our aim is to grow a community of gardeners who can help us attain food-security for our region and beyond. This, friends, is why we need you back. Our work is not nearly complete. Please double your efforts at home and beyond as we work towards a regenerative food system that gives all citizens access to quality home grown food.

  • As an alumnus we know you’ll greatly enrich conversations in our online forum. We’re counting on you to help coach and provide insights to new gardeners as they embark on a journey of learning with us. We plan to open up our interactive online forum within the next few weeks. Damien first needs to migrate it to more robust web-hosting before we do.

  • We believe you’re the best advocates to bring new people into our gardening community. You’ve taken our course, and from the feedback we’ve received, many of you have learned a tremendous amount about no-till growing practices. Please help us spread the word and expand our circle of influence.

It’s our conviction that a food revolution is only possible with the support of many home-growers and market gardeners. Thank you for helping us attain our vision of food-sustainability for all.

Kindly,

Farmer Dan sig

Andrew Couzens is a software engineer turned soil scientist.

A life long sufferer with inflammatory bowel disease, he was motivated to enter the agricultural space in an effort to “be the change” he believed was necessary to heal his own body.

Healthy plants come from healthy soil, and healthy soil comes from working with nature, not against it.

Leveraging his knowledge and experience in software engineering, he started Terra Flora Organics with a goal of helping conventional growers move from unsustainable practices that destroy soil and negatively affect the health of people and the planet, to regenerative practices that allow intensive farming whilst building soil and healing our minds and our bodies.
