Planting flowers in soil atop wood chips
I am curious if anyone has planting flowers in compost/soil placed on top of wood chips? I have had good success with produce using the carboard (if needed/available),wood chips then compost/soil method. But I have not tried flowers in this setup. My concern is that the flowers like zinnias, cosmos,...

Re: Irrigation system
I have done it 2 different ways in some of the different places we garden at my place. In my personal garden that is about 20'x30', I just have a rotating sprinkler head on a stand that is about 5' off the ground. I have it on a timer and run it once or twice a day depending on the weather. Super si...

Hungry Bin mixing?
Hey do you guys recommend giving the top layer (few inches on top and into the soil material) of your hungry bins a little mix?
Im wondering if this will speed up the decomposing material on top if its buried a little bit.
Thoughts?

Re: Seed food ideas
I have always had good success with using soil right from my garden beds. I just grab a tote and keep it indoors for a while to make sure its room temp. If you are looking for a boost you can add work castings to the trays/cells. One thing I'll mention, the last two years I made a mistake with tomat...

Re: Planting Spreadsheets
Yes very helpful. One of the hardest things for me is keeping up with continuing to get things in the ground.Hoping this year has an improvement on this.

Planting Spreadsheets
Does anyone have an excel spreadsheet for month to month planting (template) they would be willing to share with the group? I am working on one from others I have seen online but am not as strong with the excel. The formatting and layout is a bit of a challenge and I seem to spend more time fiddling...
