Sprout pea seeds before planting or not ?

Hi Dan, Jack and Andrew,

Do you have a preference on planting pea seeds?
Do you pre-sprout them (i.e. soak overnight or more) before putting out in the garden?
Or do you just plant the seeds directly?

I tried both methods earlier this year and nothing came up. I think it was just way to cold for them.

Curious to hear your recommendations. Thanks.

We direct seed without pre-sprouting. As long as the soil it moist at seeding time things will work out. Pre-sprouting might get you peas a few days earlier.

They don't mind the cool weather but they can take ages to germinate. Seeding them when things warm up in April and May is the way to go.
