Espalier apple trees
Hi Jack, I was watching your espalier video which was super helpful. I attached a picture of two dwarf apple trees I got last year. One was a whip and the other was slightly older with maybe two branches or so. I planted them against my fence in the spring of 2022 and summer pruned them last year an...

Re: Mushrooms
Hey Steph, Thanks for the recommendation. I think I am also going to try wine caps as well. I found these two suppliers locally (Vancouver island and Abbotsford) if you are looking to purchase. https://forij.life/collections/grain-spawn https://growmushroomscanada.ca/product-category/kits-spawn-cult...

I have seen a few videos on growing mushrooms (for culinary purposes) using various methods including in wood chips. Has anyone purchased local mushroom spores? Did you have success? The videos I have watched have been from “north spore” however it’s an American company and shipping was going to be ...

Re: Sprouting sweet potatoes
Good to know the Costco ones finally worked! I was thinking what type of modification have they undergone if they don’t sprout. I am in maple ridge and will come out your way when the cuttings are ready. Just let me know. Thanks Jack!

Re: Gro lights
Thanks for the suggestion, I visited a hydroponics store and got myself a light! Going to do an experiment with some plants under it and other not in my greenhouse. I have my heat loving crops (tomatoes, eggplants and peppers) on a heat mat but do not have any other source of heat in there. It heats...

Organic seed potatoes
Looking to grow organic seed potatoes this year. Anyone know where I can purchase these? I’d like to grow kennebec, chiefton and Yukon gold.
I also have these potatoes from last year which sprouted like crazy and are now tangled. Are they worth planting? Some are a bit soft but not rotten.

Sprouting sweet potatoes
I saw Dan’s sweet potatoes growing in his greenhouse last year and was super inspired! I did not realize you could grow them here. I would like to try going then as well. Jack I see the ones you tried to sprout from costco are not working therefore my question is can you successfully do this with a ...

Gro lights
Hi gardening friends, I am looking for your recommendations on a gro light for starting seeds. I have struggled to grow peppers, tomatoes and eggplant in my large south facing window and have decided this year I will invest in a heat mat and gro light. I see lots of YouTube clips of people using the...
