Re: Sweet potato timing and light

Thanks Jack for the pictures and reply post. So the 60 days to mature sweet potatoes that Dan mentioned is actually more like 120 days from the start. I’d like it, and I assume others as well, if you could continue to document the process. I am going to start sweet potatoes using this process. Finge...

Bokashi Lids and storage

Hi All: with all I’ve read and watched I still have questions about Bokashi. I am just starting it this week and have two sets of 5 gal. Buckets. Top bucket has holes in the bottom, just like we learned in the course. Bucket set 1 has a gamma lid and the airscape. The second bucket set is the same b...

Re: Sweet potato timing and light

Thank you Peas in the Rain for asking these questions, they are mine more or less as well. I can accommodate good size grow bags in my greenhouse and was wondering if that is the way to go. I could try growing them in the soil but won’t have room if they take a lot of space.
Thank you.

Growing sweet potatoes or yams

I am very inspired to try to grow yams and or sweet potatoes after watching Dan’s presentation yesterday. Of course I’d be doing this at a much smaller scale like in a grow bag or 4 which I can either keep outside or in my greenhouse. I welcome any advice. Thanks again Dan for another great video an...

Re: Cardboard in the Garden - LOUTET FARM

After Dan gives your project a thumbs up no additional advice is needed however I thought I’d share the success of Loutet Farm, an edible garden project in North Vancouver. It is amazing what you can grow and do with a parking lot! Started in 2011 on a compacted public dirt parking lot this 1/2 acre...

Re: How to enhance commercial compost / soil

Thanks Andrew, this give me a lot of options. I am going to use all three methods. 1. Plant with more Vermicompost. 2. In the larger grow bags I’ll blend the compost together, i have enough to do a 50/50 mix. 3. I’ll use the lasagna technique where I need more more soil leaving the good compost at r...

How to enhance commercial compost / soil

Hi Andrew and Group: I need more quality compost to improve the soil in my flower gardens and under the fruit trees and am wondering if you have a formula for a quick fix / enhancement to the soils and mulches I can buy locally on the North Shore. I am going to run out if the aged compost I bought f...

Input on Potato Tower

This year I’d like to add Potato Towers made with wire, soil, compost and straw to the garden. I’ve grown potatoes in soil and bags before but am under the impression that by layering seed potatoes this way I can increase the yield. Does anyone have experience with growing potatoes this way and woul...

Re: New Worm Parent Anxiety

It is not a hungry bin but it is a good homemade similar version, we have a 1000 worms from Andrew and I am happy to say that they are now starting to eat and show signs of activity. I may call out to you if needed.
Thank you
