recommendations for diy worm farm?

Vermicomposting uses worms to create nutrient-rich worm castings that significantly improves overall plant health.

found what appears to be white fungus on some uneaten fruit. is this ok to leave in the bin or should i remove it?

it's been a while since i've posted about the worm farm. it's doing very well in terms of worm population and the size of the worms... they really love melons

because i keep the hungry bin in an unheated basement, the temperature isn't regulated and has dropped significantly during winter. to help reduce heat loss, i built an insulating sleeve from the box that the hungry bin came in, some scrap insulation, plastic sheeting and tape... it works like a charm.

i anticipate that i will need a much larger worm farm going forward, and so, i built an outdoor worm farm from an ibc. there will be enough volume in there that i won't have to worry about the soil freezing up...

Regarding your May post about the white fungus, I'm not a composting expert but I'd bet the fungus would likely be a positive thing -- I'd leave it :)
