New garden beds: low nitrogen
My new garden beds are made up of about a foot of woodchips with 6" of compost on top. I know to expect lower output for the first few years but I'm wondering if anyone has added any amendments to accelerate the process and help the yellowing plants? I'm thinking of adding composted chicken manure but I'm wondering what else people have tried or if it really is just time.

I recommend that people mulch with nitrogen rich compost weekly throughout the growing season. Top dressing with compost rich in nitrogen around deep rooting plants in beds with lots of woodchips is the quickest way to build a healthy soil food web and improve soil fertility.
